Iran Criticizes US for Using Advanced Tech in Ceasefire Breach

by admin477351

Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated following recent American military strikes on missile launch sites and mine-laying vessels in southern Iran. Iran has accused the U.S. of violating an existing ceasefire, warning of potential retaliation if further actions are taken. These developments have caused a significant impact on global oil markets, with Brent crude prices surging more than four percent in response to the strikes.

According to Iran’s foreign ministry, the attacks occurred in the Hormozgan region, defying the ceasefire agreement. The Revolutionary Guards have also reported intercepting a U.S. drone and engaging an American fighter jet close to Iranian airspace. Meanwhile, explosions were reported near Bandar Abbas, close to the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. In response, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio stated that the strikes were carried out in self-defence to protect American forces from perceived threats. He emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for international shipping, describing any disruption to global maritime trade as unacceptable.

Diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict continue in Qatar, with discussions reportedly focusing on a potential agreement that might involve the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets. This forms part of a broader strategy to de-escalate tensions. China has also called for both nations to honour the ceasefire and seek peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences.

In a related regional development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to take stronger action against Hezbollah, with Israeli military operations reportedly intensifying near the Lebanese border. These moves have added to the complexities of the regional geopolitical landscape.

Meanwhile, in Iran, there have been signs of easing domestic restrictions, as internet services, which had faced nationwide limitations for months, are gradually being restored. Officials have confirmed that these restoration efforts are underway, signifying a potential shift in the internal policy landscape amidst the ongoing international tensions.
