Tim Cook, after transitioning from his role as Apple’s chief executive, has secured a compensation package valued at approximately $47 million. This new role as the company’s executive chair comes with a $2 million base salary and $45 million worth of shares. A significant portion of the stock award, half to be precise, is contingent upon meeting performance targets, while the remaining shares will vest over a four-year period.
John Ternus, who has succeeded Cook as CEO, is set to receive a $3 million base salary. Additionally, Ternus has been granted a $55 million stock award, with a greater emphasis on performance-based metrics within his compensation package. Ternus, a veteran at Apple and the former head of hardware engineering, now oversees the company’s product strategy and operations.
During Cook’s tenure as CEO, his compensation exceeded $74 million in 2025. Under his leadership, Apple experienced a remarkable increase in market value, which climbed to approximately $4.7 trillion. His new position as executive chair will see him dedicating his efforts to managing Apple’s external affairs, which includes cultivating relationships with governments, policymakers, and maintaining connections with key international markets.
Ternus’s new responsibility as CEO marks a pivotal shift in Apple’s leadership, with expectations for him to continue driving innovation and growth. As Cook steps into his role focusing on external engagements, both leaders are poised to steer Apple towards its future endeavors while maintaining the company’s robust market presence.
