Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to deepening their economic collaboration, particularly in the realms of investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This decision was cemented during discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29.
During the talks, President Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as Kazakhstan’s key strategic partner in Europe, celebrating the progress made in their bilateral relations over the past thirty years. He proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform to bolster joint projects and facilitate investment flows between the two nations.
The focus on economic cooperation was further underscored as Tokayev engaged with German business leaders. These discussions revolved around potential collaborations in areas such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Notably, the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the modernization of railway infrastructure were highlighted as key initiatives.
The meeting also explored opportunities for German companies to engage in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, providing them with greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This could potentially lead to an expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan, benefiting both nations economically.
The strengthened partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany underscores a mutual interest in leveraging their respective strengths to enhance economic growth and connectivity across the region. As these plans progress, both countries anticipate increased investment and collaborative ventures that could drive forward their shared economic goals.
